Nadia Porras

Nadia Rose Porras was born at 1:43 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Texas Health Harris Southwest Hospital of Fort Worth. She weighed 4lbs 13oz and was 18.5 inches long. Nadia’s family was blessed with almost an hour with her before she passed peacefully in the arms of her loving parents. Her family will cherish her memory forever, as the brief yet beautiful gift it was.

Nadia is the daughter of Rebecca and Jesus Porras. She is survived by her parents, and siblings, Audriana, Esperanza, and Alonzo Porras. Although her overall life may have been shortened, her love most certainly will not be. Nadia is loved and missed very deeply by her mom and dad, her siblings, her grandparents, her great-grandparents, her aunts and uncles, her cousins, and so many others.

Nadia was diagnosed on January 10, 2023 (22 weeks + 4 days gestation) with Semilobar Holoprosencephaly (HPE). This is a condition that changes the way a baby’s brain develops. In HPE, the left and right sides of the brain do not separate like they are supposed to. Along with the HPE diagnosis she also had Chromosome 18 abnormalities. With both of these diagnoses she was given less than a 3% chance to survive until birth or through delivery. She defied those odds and got to meet her parents and siblings briefly before she went to her Heavenly home.

Her family began sharing her story soon after her diagnosis and Nadia touched and impacted so many lives.
