Mildred Jordan

April 11, 1936 — November 11, 2021

Kaysville, Utah

Mom . . . a simple, ordinary woman who participated in the extraordinary and hallowed responsibilities of a devoted wife, mother, and servant of our Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ.

Mildred Jean DuBose Jordan, 85, passed away November 11, 2021, at the home of her daughter, Zon, in Kaysville, Utah. She is preceded in death by her husband, who passed away October 18, 2021.

Born to Effie Brown James DuBose and Daniel Alexander DuBose April 11, 1936, in Miami, Florida, she was the sixth and last child of four brothers and one sister. Bertha Aymar Brown, her grandmother, whom she adored, tenderly raised her from birth until marriage to Lee Ellsworth Jordan August 12, 1955 (sealed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mesa, Arizona temple June 21, 1961).

Mildred’s childhood was a blessing to all, even in her moments of mischievousness, which included stuffing a potato in the gas tank of a family vehicle, to forcing a dried bean up her little nostril. She grew into a lovely teenager who stuck by precise moral values taught by her grandmother, and as a woman, would be considered a skilled caretaker; it was easy for her to feel compassion for the needy and her family. She loved puzzles and would often be found slumped over the table or sliding off her chair while sleeping ‘on the job.’ One of her great accomplishments included taking care of her ancestors through genealogy. Many years encompassed visiting cemeteries, reading/creating family histories, logging pertinent information, and helping others in Family History Centers.

Throughout mom’s earthly experiences she was given the opportunities to “drink from the bitter cup which the Father hath given” her. We believe she glorified our Father by overcoming her personal wounds and life’s trials as much as she could. She believes in Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and tried to serve Them as faithfully as she knew how.

Mildred is survived by her children: Mark (Malinda) Jordan, Lu Ann (Mike) Crossley, Zon (James) Ellefsen, and Cindy (Roy) Lindsay; 19 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.
