Leesa Raaum

May 9, 1968 — September 18, 2022

Fort Worth

Leesa Raaum, 54, passed from this life September 18, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Leesa was born May 9, 1968, in El Paso, Texas to Harvey Lee Pressley and Betty Jean Maloney Pressley.  She graduated from Manchester Central High School, class of 1986 and later attended Middle Tennessee State University.

As a child living in South Korea, she began learning to speak Korean.  She was very athletic and loved playing softball. Leesa was a member of the Jiffy Burger team, where you can still see her team picture on the back room far wall. She was a starter for The Misfits Travel team, where they won the State Championship.  She was also on the track and field team throwing the discuss and shotput.

Leesa was selected for inclusion in the “Who’s Who in American High Schools” book two years straight. She was very smart and kept a high GPA.  She had a particular way of studying that was especially effective.

Leesa had an “angelic” voice.  While in high school, she was a member of the choir.  She was encouraged by her choir director, Steven Foster, to try out for a scholarship to MTSU.  Leesa was awarded the scholarship after singing in Latin.  She was also a member of the MTSU marching band, part of the flag corp.  Leesa left MTSU after two years to pursue a career in nursing following in the footsteps of her Aunt Betty, her Aunt Wynella, and her mother, Betty.

While modest about many of her talents and accomplishments, she was most proud of her “miracle baby” Jake, meaning fighting lymphoid cancer while pregnant.

Leesa was completely devoted to her husband of 22 years, Brad.  She loved flowers and was always truly grateful to Brad for constantly bringing her flowers.  Leesa was dedicated to home schooling Jake from the time he hit second grade to his acceptance to the School of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas, Arlington.

Leesa was a proud native of Texas, where she was continuously involved in local and state politics.  But she also considered Florida and Tennessee her homes.

Family and friends were a high priority in her life.  She was adored by her four brothers.  She was fiercely loyal to her friends, forging lifelong friendships throughout her life.

Leesa was a devout Christian, baptized in 1984, after she was saved while attending a Christian Youth Conference in Nashville, by Brother Martin Bowlin, who was a huge influence on her young life.

Leesa is preceded in death by her natural father, LtC. Lee Pressley; and a brother, James “Jimmy” Bramblett.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 22 years, Brad Raaum; son, Jake Raaum; parents, Betty and Jim Bramblett; brothers, Mike (Janay) Pressley, Justin (Melissa) Bramblett, and Jason (Rachel) Bramblett; a multitude of nieces and nephews across the U.S.; her mother-in-law, Vera Raaum; and four sets of brothers, and sisters-in-law.
