Memorials:  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to support August and Davis’ future.

Jon was born on August 25, 1987 in Fort Worth, Texas to Terry and Lou Ann Waters.  He grew up in Fort Worth with his parents and little sister, Julie. The family attended Hallmark Baptist Church where Jon placed his trust in Jesus Christ at a young age, giving him assurance of his home in Heaven. He was very active in his youth group throughout his teens and felt a calling to ministry at 17 years old. Graduating from Crowley High School, he played all sports growing up but was exceptionally talented in football. His love for sports never faded and he was a special type of devoted fan to the Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars and Texas Rangers.

Jon had a powerful testimony of how God saved him on January 7, 2014 from a 10-year battle of drug addiction.  From that day forward, Jon knew God had called him to serve the people that struggled with the same disease. He began working in the treatment industry at 3 months sober and never looked back.  His passion to help the man and woman still suffering was undeniable.  His ability to relate and empathize with anyone was so unique and treasured by all who crossed his path. There was something in Jon that just drew people in.  His contagious smile, insanely loud laugh and bear hugs that could fix almost anything, will forever be missed.

Jon met his wife, Lauren Waters, in 2015 and they were married the following year.  On Super Bowl Sunday in 2017 their son, August, made his first appearance 15 minutes after the game ended, as to selflessly ensure his dad’s attendance at his birth.  Two years later, 11 lb. sweet baby, Davis, arrived and captured their hearts as well.  The boys were the light of their lives.

Jon loved his family and always looked forward to the holidays and family gatherings throughout the year.  He also loved to travel.  Jon and Lauren flew  across the country to play competitive softball with their closest friends in recovery.  Jon was so proud of the championship ring their team “Nod Squad” won at the CSNSA Vegas Worlds back in March of this year.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Riley Waters, Junior Price, and Carol Price; his uncles, Curtis Waters and Marcus Connelly; and his cousin, Mia Waters.

Jon is survived by his wife, Lauren Waters; his precious sons, August James Waters and Davis Allen Waters; parents, Terry and Lou Ann Waters; sister, Julie Lystad and husband, Ryan; nephew, Kale Lundy; niece, Kora Lystad; his Mamaw, Lillie Waters; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and an abundance of friends.
