James "Jim" Nixon

September 29, 1936 — February 19, 2021

James “Jim” Alvin Nixon, 84, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away on February 19, 2021.

Due to these extraordinary times, a Memorial Service will be held later.

Memorials:  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice, or to the Benbrook United Methodist Church in Benbrook, Texas where Jim was a longstanding member of the congregation.

Jim was born in Iraan, Texas on September 29, 1936. He spent many years in far West Texas playing with his siblings and was known as an outstanding basketball player for Iraan High School. After graduating from high school, he attended and received a degree from The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Jim joined the U.S. Army after graduation and served his country for two years stationed in San Antonio, Texas. He then went on to become a furniture salesman for both Benchcraft and Broyhill, working with many of his fraternity brothers from the UNT chapter of Sigma Nu. Jim travelled millions of miles in the State of Louisiana making sales. His customers knew him as a hardworking, honest and reliable man, and most importantly a friend. He married his wife, Febe on February 5, 1971. They had a loving and devoted relationship and were both devout and faithful churchgoers.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Fred J. and Kathleen Reddy Nixon.

Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Febe; his brother, George Nixon; sister, Dorothy Word; three children, Jami Nixon, Jody Massey, and Jeff Pickett;  grandchildren, Ashley, Byrd, Bradley and Brandon Massey; and one Great grandchild, Jack Massey; as well as a host of many additional relatives and friends.
