James Brooks DeArman Hoote

BORN: July 15,1943

END OF WATCH:  March 6, 2022

Born on a Thursday, Jimmy DeArman arrived in Fort Worth to a young mother and an absent Army father. Jimmy was the apple of his grandfather's eye, waiting eagerly for rides in his little red wagon and lunchbox treats. He spent most of his time with his grandparents, at their log cabin in Dido, North of Fort Worth.

Although his name was not legally changed until he graduated from High School at Polytechnic, he used the name Hoote from early years. During high school, he was active in the USAF ROTC, and went through the academy, receiving an Honorable Discharge.  He attended UTA for a couple of years, worked for the Montgomery Ward electronics area on 7th street, and for his uncle Bud Smith, a commercial painter.

Encouragement from his stepfather, Detective Thomas Peter Hoote, led to his employment with the Fort Worth Police Department. He also served 7+ years with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Department, retiring in 2000, with over 32 years of total service in Law Enforcement.

A giant within the FWPD, he served 7+ years in Internal Affairs, as a Detective, and several other departments within the FWPD, and was affectionately known as SGT. J.B.

Jimmy was preceded in death by grandparents, Rube Will Smith, and Lillie Mercer Smith; mother, Edna Mae Smith DeArman Hoote; father, Brooks Wellington DeArman; stepfather, Thomas Peter Hoote; brother, Thomas Peter Hoote, Jr.; and sons, Eric Wayne Hoote, and Michael Allan Hinds.

Left to cherish memories of happy times...devoted wife of 35 years, Caron Carter Hoote; daughter, Lisa Marie Hoote; son, James Hinds; and four grandchildren.

At his request, there are no public services scheduled.  If desired, donations may be made in his memory to the Fort Worth Police and Fire Memorial fund, 3801 Hulen Street, # 101, Fort Worth, Texas 76107, attn: Karen Epps.
