Ellen Gay (Parrish) Adams, 85, passed away in the loving arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, October 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving children.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Church at the Crossing, 128 Elm Street, Aledo Texas 76008. Graveside services will follow immediately at Benbrook Cemetery, 825 Mercedes Street, Benbrook, Texas 76126.

Ellen Gay was born November 1, 1936, in Weatherford, Texas, to Minnie Gladys and Willard Edward MacNelly, the first of four children, growing up in Weatherford working at the Herald Newspaper ran by her father. She graduated Weatherford High, then graduated secretarial school in 1956 and started a lifelong career for the FAA, getting her college degree in 1982 and working 46 years for the FAA, before retirement.

She met her soulmate and married Herschel Otto Adams in 1957. They resided in Benbrook and raised three children.  Together they spent a lot of time coaching and going to their kids’ sporting events and spending all their summer time at their lake house on Weatherford Lake with brothers and sister, and many nieces and nephews. Ellen and Hershel spent their retirement time at the lake chasing seven grandchildren around while they made the fondest memories.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, and current member of Western Hills Church of Christ, where she spent many years helping with their food bank. She spent 20 plus years feeding the homeless every Wednesday in downtown Fort Worth at Under The Tree.  Ellen loved quilting and made many beautiful quilts for family.

Ellen Gay was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Herschel in 2005; her daughter, Lori Gay Casas in 2004; and a sister, Janet Thomas in 2017.

Ellen Gay is survived by a son, David Adams and wife, Lori; a daughter, Lisa Burnett and husband, Randy; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Ashley, Cord, Adam, Jake, Mia, and Reagan; seven great-grandchildren with # 8 on the way; niece, Mikeleen McDavid (whom she had a very special relationship with); two brothers, Johnny, and Charles; and many nieces, and nephews.
