Dr. David Cavin

Dr. David Edward Cavin, age 83, departed this life for his Heavenly home on May 20, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Celebration of Life:  11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Southcliff Church, 4100 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth, Texas, 76109.  A private family burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.  If you are unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed at https://www.facebook.com/clarkcavin.

Born in Nashville, Kansas on July 14, 1937, he was the son of David A. and Maxine Cavin.  He graduated from Northside High School in Fort Worth, Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, and earned his Doctor of Religious Education degree from the California Graduate School of Theology.  He pastored Westridge Baptist Church in Fort Worth from 1964-1990.  Following his retirement from Westridge, he continued to teach and serve in interim pastoral positions, and at Southcliff Church.  Despite health issues in his later years, he always had a pastor’s heart desiring to lead others to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He continued to sing gospel songs and hymns and quote Scripture!  The family would love to express our sincere gratitude to his faithful and loving caregivers at St. John’s Residential Care Home and Beyond Faith Hospice for their devotion to both of our parents.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Gwendolyn Clark Cavin, in January of this year, his parents, David and Maxine Cavin, and his son-in-law, Tim Collier.

He is survived by their four children and their spouses, Caren Tyer (Logan), Cathy Collier (Mark), Clark Cavin (Lisa), and Clay Cavin (Cheyenne). He is also survived by his sister, RoJean Jones of Springfield, Missouri. In addition, he is survived by his 13 loving grandchildren. God also blessed him with 19 great grandchildren, six nieces, many extended family members, and a host of friends. His heart’s desire was to tell everyone how to prepare to spend eternity in Heaven with Jesus Christ.
