Carolyn Roberson

March 4, 1944 — March 22, 2022

Granbury

Carolyn Roberson was born in Henrietta, Texas on March 4, 1944, and died in Fort Worth, Texas on March 22, 2022.  She was a loving and caring person who spent most of her life serving others.

Carolyn knew at the age of ten that she was going to be a missionary.

She attended Hardin Simmons University.  Carolyn graduated from Lillie Jolly School of Nursing and Texas Women’s University with a degree in Nursing.

Carolyn served as a missionary in Africa for 15 years.  While in Africa she received her certification as a Midwife. She delivered more than a thousand babies.  She loved those babies and she loved teaching well-baby clinics.

When she was in Rhodesia, she flew to remote clinics that could only be reached by small planes.

When she was in South Africa, she was in a very isolated area of the Kalahari Desert.  She lived more than 100 miles from the hospital.

Carolyn loved Africa.

After coming back to the states, Carolyn went back to school and received her master’s degree in Theology.  She became a Hospice Chaplain and Nurse.

Later she became a foster mom for medically fragile babies.

When Carolyn retired, she spent much of her time in her gardens.  She loved watching things grow.  She loved her wildflowers, her day lilies, and her strawberry patch.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Roberson, and Bessie Blackwell; her brother, Homer Roberson Jr.; and her sister, Betty Jordan.

She is survived by two sisters, Shirley Overstreet of Petrolia, Texas, and Marolyn Roberson of Granbury, Texas; one very kind and loving daughter, Brittney Joy Roberson; and many nieces and nephews.

Donations in her memory may be sent to Joy Baptist Church, 8805 Old Joy Shannon Road, Henrietta, Texas 76365, or Compassion International, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 80997.
