Alvarene Beckner

January 11, 1941 — March 2, 2023

Keller

Alvarene Swearingin Beckner died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of March, 2, 2023.
Alva was born on January 11, 1941 in Fort Worth, Texas.  She graduated from Polytechnic High School of Fort Worth in 1959.

That same year, while working at the historic Worth Theatre in downtown Fort Worth, she met and married Donald Wayne Beckner on June 16th.  Together they had three daughters, Lee Anne Gierisch, Lisa Lynne Maloney, and Leslie Pauline Beckner.

As a mother she was a room mother, PTO president, Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and the wardrobe chairman for the Texas Girls’ Choir.  Alva retired from Harris Northwest Hospital Azle after an extensive career as an x-ray technician. Outside her work, she enjoyed many outdoor activities like softball, camping, boating, and gardening.  Alva was a jack of all trades. She put on talent shows, sewed costumes, organized garage sales, cooked amazing food, wrote poetry, sang beautifully, and could fix anything!  She loved scrabble, puzzles, reading and listening to books on tape and could beat anyone in Trivial Pursuit!  She was also a self-taught craftsperson with a gift for woodworking, carving, and furniture building.

She lived on Lake Worth in Amon Carter’s historic house for many years and welcomed friends and family most weekends.  Everyone enjoyed great food, games, wave runners, fishing, dancing and even karaoke on the dock.

Alva is preceded in death by her Parents, Albert Bascom Swearingin and Ola Irene Shaw Swearingin, her Sisters, Darla Jean Myers and Shawlene Mitchell, ex-husband Donald Wayne Beckner and Life Partner Diana Mollentine. Her beloved brother-in-Law Billy J. Myers passed just minutes before her. She is survived by her 3 daughters, sons-in-law Edmund George Gierisch IV and Daniel Lynn Sheppard,  grandchildren, Mark Daniel Maloney and Macey Jane Maloney, brother, Albert Oris Swearingin, and several family members and friends.

Alva spent the last several years of her life battling Dementia/Alzheimer’s. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Joyce Daniel and Maria Zavala for their never-ending love and patience and care given. In lieu of flowers, please donate to help those fighting these diseases or to the Luminosity Theatre Center in her name. https://www.luminositytc.org/support-us
