Alice Chase

Granbury

Alice (Taliaferro) Chase passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, in Granbury, Texas.

Alice requested cremation, and a private family ceremony will be held to scatter her ashes at her property on the Brazos River, a spot that was meaningful to her.

Alice grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, and her heart never left Texas, although she lived in many places.  After graduating from Texas Tech University, Alice taught school for the U.S. Department of Defense in The Philippines, Japan, England, Guantanamo Bay Cuba, and Germany, where she met her husband.  They married at Alice’s home place in Wolf Hollow, Texas, and settled in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Here she raised her family, attended church, taught preschool, enjoyed working with friends at fairs and concerts, volunteered with her neighborhood garden club, and ushered at the local theater and symphony hall.

Alice eventually returned to her family’s beloved property in Wolf Hollow at the end of her life, where she enjoyed hosting family each summer, playing dominoes, and reading.  She greeted each morning with coffee while watching the sun rise over the river and relished her single glass of bourbon at five o’clock each evening.  She died surrounded by her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Alice was predeceased by her parents, Omarie and John Taliaferro.

She was survived by her husband, Bruce; children, Jenny Olson, Robby Chase, and Kathy Molina; sisters, Betty McCreight, and Jane Vaughn; grandchildren, Hunter, Allie, and Evie Olson, Tyler, Jacob, and Madi Molina, and Austin Chase; extended family; and many friends.
