William Meador

William Doyle Meador, 90, passed away in Fort Worth, Thursday, June 28, 2018.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2018 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 3550 SW Loop 820, Fort Worth. Reception in Parish Hall afterward.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church or to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Goodfellows Fund.
Doyle Meador was born in Novice, Texas on August 12, 1927 to Willie A. and Vada Meador and was the oldest of six children who grew up in Coleman, Texas. After serving in the US Army and the US Navy, in 1952 he married the love of his life, Geraldine June Lawler and they had three children. He was a printer, union organizer and retired from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after 35 years. Doyle loved to organize and create events for people to come together: family reunions, poker games, trips, Edgecliff Village events, and Star-Telegram Retirement Luncheons. He never missed Wednesday Night Choir Practice (poker club) and was the life in everyone’s party. He loved all, never met a stranger and charmed everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Vada; brother, Lester; and wife, Gerry.
The family wishes to offer its special thanks to our friends at Brookdale Tanglewood Oaks for their love and care during the last years of Doyle’s life.
Survivors: Children, Rick and his wife, Karen, Sheila Griffin and her husband, Russell, and Dorcia; grandchildren, Britt and Will Meador, Kaitlyn Mack and her husband, Kevin, Andrea Johnson and her husband, Jared, and Justin Wise and his wife, Kim; great-grandchildren, Walker Wilks, Colton and Brooke Wise, Jay and Autumn Johnson; sisters, Dorcia Holtz, Dellene Driskill and Melba Baugh; brother, Dub Meador; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
