Welling T. “Wes” Westlake, Jr., 91, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023, after several years of ongoing medical problems at an assisted living facility, with a long-time friend in attendance.
Wes was born March 9, 1931, in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated Paschal High School, worked at Southwestern Drug Corp., then entered the U.S. Army and served for two years. He then worked at Burlington-Northern Railroad and retired from Lone Star Gas Company. Wes was an AARP member and served as usher/docent at many museums, the Scott Theater, The Bass Hall and Fort Worth Convention Center events. He took community courses and volunteered at Tarrant Junior College and mentored in reading and computer classes. Wes enjoyed movies, books, cultural events, travel, new car shopping, and attending Calvary Cathedral Church, Fort Worth, where he was a devoted member.
The family would like to thank Heritage Place Assisted Living in Burleson, and Alpha Omega Hospice for their devoted service to Wes.
Wes is preceded in death by his parents, W.T. Westlake, Sr., and Della Moore Westlake; brothers, Felix Sterling Westlake, and David Leon Westlake; and sister, Iona Fay Westlake Smith.
He is survived by four nephews, one niece; three grandnephews; five grandnieces; and two great-grandnieces.
Private graveside services were held in Benbrook Cemetery, Benbrook, Texas.
