On July 28, 2023, at the age of 97, Vera crossed the veil peacefully surrounded by family and friends. She now joins her loving husband, Ben, and all her departed loved ones, whom she was looking forward to seeing again.
Vera Louise Bailey was born in a house just a few miles from the home she lived in for the last 56 years, in Fort Worth. She married Ben June Bailey shortly after World War II, and they welcomed their only child, Robert Earl Bailey, in 1950. The family enjoyed camping in Colorado, water skiing on Benbrook Lake, and creating lasting memories with their extended family.
They were active in the Trinity Cumberland Presbyterian Church since 1956. For over 50 years, they donated their time, dedication, and talents to the church. Vera was a gifted gardener and has been a member of the Fort Worth Orchid Society for many years. She, of course, loved orchids and native Texan plants, especially bluebonnets. Vera spent her retirement in her garden room, birdwatching, and admiring her work.
Vera and Ben are survived by their son, Robert Earl Bailey; and their three grandchildren, Caitlin Elyse Bailey, Kevin Emerson Bailey, and Gwyneth Evelyn Bailey, whom they loved dearly.
