Venita Scott

Venita Faye Henkelman Scott, 98, passed from this life peacefully among family on January 8, 2021 in Granbury Texas.

Services: In a private family graveside service, Venita will join Walter once again when she is interred at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Venita was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated in 1940 from Arlington Heights High School. Venita married Walter in 1941 during WWII and lived the life of a navel officer’s wife. She and Walter resided in Fort Worth after the war. When her children were older she entered the workplace and later retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Venita enjoyed socializing and playing bridge and dominoes. But her two great passions were her Boxer dogs and her iris garden. As a longtime member of the Fort Worth Iris Society she and enjoyed attending iris shows and conventions. Venita loved life and was always ready for any new adventure. She had a full life, many friends, a close family and a grit and determination that allowed her to live independently up until her passing.

Venita is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Alfred Scott, and her parents, Mary and Harry Henkelman.

Survivors: Venita is survived by her children, Walter Craig Scott and Anna Jeanette Guertler; her grandchildren, Walter Adam Scott, Alaina Kay Buckley and Kara Lynn Copening; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Brielle Copening, Sophie Renee Scott and Benjamin Walter Buckley; and all their spouses.
