-- Vance Windsor, 81, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at his home in Fort Worth.
Funeral
: 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. Visitation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Vance Stanford Windsor was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Decatur, Ala., son of the late Herman Roosevelt and Annie Laura Humphreys Windsor. He made his career with Wolverine and Bell Helicopter and retired from each company with more than 20 years of dedicated service. Vance was a member of the Methodist church and also sang bass with the Gatemen Quartet Ministries.
For many, many years Vance played Santa Claus at nursing homes and schools. He was a devout Alabama fan and loved sports of all kinds. Vance also loved his chewing tobacco and race cars. He was a gentle man and had a heart of gold.
Vance was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister.
Survivors
: Wife, Loretta Windsor of Fort Worth; children, Gerald France and wife, Christine, of Fort Worth, Pammy Franciski and husband, Thomas, of Whiting, Ind., Tony Ray France and wife, Elechia, of Fort Worth, Lisa Carr and husband, Michael, of Saginaw, Reanna Siordia-Windsor of Fort Worth, and Russell Edward France of Shawnee, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Vandon Windsor and wife, Gene, and Mike Windsor; sister, Francine Gilchrist and husband, Skeggs; all of Alabama; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
