FORT WORTH -- Valorie H. Cox, 84, passed away peacefully with her family at her side Sunday, June 15, 2014, in Fort Worth.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Genesis United Methodist Church, 7635 S. Hulen, Fort Worth.

Valorie was born July 16, 1929, in Iola. She married her husband, Jerry Cox, on July 2, 1954, and was just two weeks shy of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Valorie worked for the Radio and Television Commission for 27 years before she retired in 1991. She was a 31-year breast cancer survivor.
After retirement, she and Jerry were able to travel the world and loved every minute of it.
In addition to travel, Valorie spent much of her free time volunteering for the American Cancer Society, and volunteered for nearly 20 years at Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest.
Valorie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Wayne and Lula Bell Howard; and her brother, David Howard.
Survivors: Her beloved husband, Gerald "Jerry" R. Cox; children, Donna Pace and husband, Paul, of Arlington, Howard Cox and wife, Cynthia, of Fort Worth and Gina Pederson and husband, Brad, of Bedford; grandchildren, Amy Lindsey and husband, Alan, of Houston, Dustin Cox and wife, Alicia, of Arlington, Cassie Pace of Arlington and Blain Taylor of Bedford; and great-grandchildren, Katherine, Ava and Jackson.
