Valarie Gail Ruggles, 61, went to Heaven on September 11, 2021.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021, at The Church At Benbrook, 930 Winscott Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126. www.thechurchatbenbrook.com.
Memorials: While flowers are appreciated, an alternative option in lieu of flowers, would be a donation in memory of our Valarie to any of the following organizations:
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library: donate.imaginationlibrary.com.
NDDS: give.ndds.org.
Special Olympics: support.specialolympics.org.
Valarie loved everyone that she ever met. When she was a child, she was known to greet every person that came to the front door, including the mailman, with one of her world-famous hugs. Second only to her, love was her tenacious spirit. She defied the odds by teaching herself to read and write passages from the Bible at a very early age. For years, she participated in the Special Olympics where she won ribbons and medals, placing in bronze, silver, and gold.
There was a special place in her heart for all her friends and the staff at ABG where she worked for many years. Valarie was a dedicated artist who specialized in tracing and coloring butterflies and Disney Princesses. One of her final requests, while in the hospital, was for a coloring book and colors. Valarie would want you to know that she is Dolly Parton’s #1 Fan.
Valarie is preceded in death by her father, Gerald Ruggles; stepdad, Jack Jones; sister, Cheryl “Chippi” Ruggles; brother, Jerry Ruggles; and the love of her life, David Durrant.
Survivors: Mother, Lilly Jones; sister, Karen Bozon and husband, Alan; brother, Scott Ruggles; brother, Bobby Ruggles; nephew, Ben Bozon; niece, Peyton Cole and husband, Brandon; great-nephew, Judah Cole; stepsiblings, Jackie, Liz, Phillip and Trudy; her best friend, Christy Scott; and countless other friends and loved ones.
