BENBROOK -- Tommie Bullard Smith, 81, passed away Monday, June 8, 2015, surrounded by family in Benbrook.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Western Hills Baptist Church, 8500 Chapin Road, Fort Worth. Visitation: Tommie's family will receive loved ones and friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Tommie Bullard Smith was born Nov. 4, 1933, the second of four daughters to the late Floyd Thomas and Alice Ozella McGuire King. She was born in Comanche but graduated valedictorian with the class of 1951 from Iraan High School. Tommie made her career as a banker and retired after many dedicated years of service. She was a longtime resident of Benbrook and a very active member and deacon of Western Hills Baptist Church. She played bridge and volunteered with The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. She also volunteered many hours with Relay For Life of Benbrook among other activities around town. Tommie was an avid reader and loved to travel. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Tommie was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Eugene Bullard; a son, Michael Gene Bullard; and her parents.
Survivors: Husband, Louis Smith of Benbrook; children, Timothy Bullard of Dallas, Janet Carter of North Richland Hills, Donita Peterson and husband, Dave, and family, of Lincoln, Neb., Matthew Smith of Benbrook, and Mark Smith of Austin; granddaughters, Gracyn and Annie Carter; sisters, Gwen Dempsey and husband, Frank, of Basin, Wyo., Verdell Andrews and husband, Robert, of North Richland Hills, and Virginia Foley and husband, Don, of Comanche; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
