Rusty Shafer

May 22, 1954 — March 7, 2020

Rusty Lee Shafer, 65, of Benbrook, Texas passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Shafer's graveside (Inurnment) service had been delayed. Due to the ever changing guidelines for the funeral service from the CDC, etc., the national cemetery has had to cancel attended services at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mr. Shafer's service will be rescheduled at a later date.

Rusty was born May 22, 1954 in Lapeer, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978. He loved traveling, hunting, fishing, and Nascar.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Connie Fry and his brother, Randy Shafer.

Survivors: Rusty is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Joan Shafer; daughters, Jennifer (Tom) Formento, Amber (Erik) Morin, and Georgiana (Chris) James; grandchildren, Ashley Brookens, Katie Tudor, Elvis (Rochelle) Tudor, Tommy Formento, Garrett Formento, Michael Morin, Megin Morin, Christian Newkirk, Alexus Newkirk, Logan James, and Colby James; great-grandchildren, Saiya Brookens, Phoenix Brookens, Grace Morin, Alayna Rich, and Malcolm Tudor; sister, Joanne (Stan) Bular; and brothers, Larry (Ann) Schalua and Dennis Podgorski.
