Rickey Lewis Stuart, 66, of Cresson, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2020 at his home.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Bear Creek Community Church, 18600 Hwy 377 S, Cresson 76035. Visitation: 4-6:00 p.m. Friday at Winscott Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook 76126, with family present. (Open visitation for others 1-6:00 p.m. Friday.) Please be aware of COVID restrictions with numbers that may attend and spacing. Private burial will take place next week at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Rickey was born October 26, 1953 in Wills Point Texas, to Tracey and Margaret Stuart. He enlisted in the US Air Force and then spent the next 32 years serving his country in the US Army Reserves while also serving his community for the Benbrook Police department for 10 years, then the Arlington Police Department for the next 20 years, where he retired in 2013. Rickey retired from the US Army Reserves in 2009 after serving oversees for Operation Iraqi Freedom as a military police officer.

Rickey’s passion involved family and he will be remembered as the family patriarch and a beloved papaw to his grandchildren. He was a lifelong runner and participated in numerous marathons over his lifetime. As an enthusiastic outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, camp, and shoot. He played football and was an UT Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys fan. During his spare time, he was an avid reader and read thousands of books in his lifetime, a hobby he passed to his children and grandchildren.

Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, Tracey and Margaret.

Survivors: He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Stuart; four children, Brandon Stuart of Fort Worth, Jayme Langford and husband, Jason of Cresson, Taryn Whittle and husband, James of Weatherford, and Lyndsey Stewart of Cresson; ten grandchildren, Aidan Stuart of Crowley, Ryan McCoy of Crowley, Ian Stuart of Austin, Memphis Stuart of Oklahoma, Kyndall Langford of Cresson, Jackson Langford of Cresson, Maysun Whittle of Weatherford, Olivia Whittle of Weatherford, Amelia Whittle of Weatherford and Elijah Stewart of Cresson; three younger siblings, Mickey Stuart and wife, Renee of Fort Worth, Bryan Stuart and wife, Lisa of Wills Point, and Toni Killgo of Elmo.
