Richard Allen

BENBROOK -- Richard Edward Allen, 86, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook.
Edward was born Jan. 17, 1929, to Clarence Allen of Justin and the former Louella Fry of Denton. He married Mary Ann McLain of Hillsboro in 1952. Edward graduated from Denton High School where he played football and basketball, and was a competitive swimmer. He was a lifeguard during his years at North Texas State in Denton. Edward was employed by General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin for 44 years as a senior test engineer specialist. He helped design the fuselage and trajectory systems for many of the aircraft there, and he set up the Engineering Standards Lab for his department. Edward was in the Navy Reserve for eight years and was a Boy Scout leader in Troop 95.
He will always be remembered for how kind he was and how loved he was by many.
Survivors: Edward is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann Allen; children, Julia Echols, Greg Allen and Dan Allen; grandchildren, Jacob King, Rachel Barker and Amber Hardin; great-grandchildren, Brook and Asher King, and Kennedy Hardin; brothers, Joe Allen and David Allen; and sister, Samilou Smith.
