On September 10, 2025, Peter Kau died after a long life of 80 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Tessie Kau, and sister-in-law Colleen Dugas, her husband Weston Dugas, their son, Michael, and Michelle, two granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, as well as Tessie’s extended family in Louisiana and cousins in New York and Munich, Germany.
During his life, Peter attended PS13 in New York, Brooklyn Tech, and Rockland Community College before enlisting in the United States Air Force (USAF) in 1964. During his career in the Air Force, Peter spent 10 years as a tail gunner in the B-52D model in addition to other specialties. His assignments included New York, New Jersey, England twice, and Texas. After 30 years, he retired from the USAF in 1994. He worked for Behr Automotive Heating and Cooling until he retired from them 15 years later.
He was very active in the American Legion Post 297, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10429, the Cory of Benbrook, Benbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, the Compassionate Friends, and the Gunner Association.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Tessie, and his many friends, family, and associates.
