In Loving Memory of Patricia “Patty” (Walczak) Hyziewicz
Patricia “Patty” (Walczak) Hyziewicz, of Fort Worth, Texas, and formerly of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away gracefully on August 6,
2025, surrounded by love. She was born on April 8, 1953, in Erie, the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Margaret (Ernst) Walczak.
Patty’s life was defined by compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to others. She graduated from St. Benedict’s Academy and went on to earn her RN from the St. Vincent School of Nursing. Her 42-year nursing career spanned multiple locations and disciplines, including Emergency Room/Trauma, Cardiac and Gl. She was respected for her skill, calm under pressure, and ability to make patients feel truly cared for. She was affectionately known as “One Poke Patty.”
Above her career in medicine, Patty was deeply devoted to her family. She took every opportunity to support and participate in her children’s activities, including countless games, performances, and school events. She was a kind, caring and familiar face to all those she came across. As her children grew into adulthood, she remained a steady and guiding presence, becoming a cornerstone in their lives.
Her unwavering love, quiet strength and generous spirit will be profoundly missed.
Patty found joy in life’s simple pleasures - her love for all things pink, her fondness for chocolate, the serenity of the beach, especially Puerto Vallarta, and the warmth of a good gathering with friends and family. She especially cherished time spent with her three grandchildren, Aubrey, Kapler, and Keaton, whether they were playing, laughing, or simply sharing quiet moments together.
She is survived by her grade school sweetheart and loving husband of 50 years, Ronald Hyziewicz; her children, Julie Hyziewicz (Tim) of Boulder, Tami Watson (Dale) and Stacy Ridder (Eric) both of Fort Worth, and Gregory Hyziewicz (Beth) of Erie, her sister, Kathy Stull (Bob); a niece and nephew; and her three beloved grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital of Erie and Operation Smile, honoring Patty’s lifelong commitment to caring for others.
