Mildred, the only daughter in the family of seven children, was born in the Pottsville community of Hamilton County, Texas on November 10, 1929. She shared her birthday with Martin Luther, hence the name Martina. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church; attended parochial school through 8th grade at Immanuel, then attended Pottsville High School where she was a basketball star and valedictorian. Mildred lived and worked on the family farm until her marriage in 1949 to Ben Wagner whom she met in high school. After moving to Fort Worth, they raised their three children steadfast in the Christian faith. Ben and Mildred were charter members of Redeemer Lutheran Church where they remained active until failing health made it difficult to serve.

Mildred's life was centered around her strong Christian faith. This was evident in her loving care of her husband, children, grandchildren and extended family and friends. She enjoyed bible study groups, teaching Sunday School, being involved in evangelism, cross-stitching and organizing family birthdays and holidays.

Thank you to Asana Hospice and Palliative Care for their comfort and spiritual support during the last two years.

Mildred is preceded in death by her loving and dedicated husband, Ben this past November, her parents, Gustav and Emma Pietzsch, and her brothers, Eugene, Milton, Raymond, Leonard and Wilbert Pietzsch.

She is survived by son, Robert Wagner and wife, Linda of Burleson; daughter, Cathy Gonzalez and husband, Jerry of Benbrook; and son, Paul Wagner of Fort Worth; her brother, Jerome Pietzsch and wife, Alice of Pottsville; and sister-in-law, Lela Mae Pietzsch of Pottsville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
