December 24, 1929 — December 20, 2025

Mary Louise (Weatherred) McMahan, 95, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025.

Mary was born in Coleman, TX to John Sumter Weatherred and Louise Dibrell Weatherred on December 24, 1929.

She married her dear husband Joe Alfred McMahan on February 5, 1949, and together they made their home in McKinney, TX, where they raised their family. Later, they moved to Commerce, TX. Mary spent the last years of her life in Fort Worth, TX, where she passed away.

Mary was a lifetime worker and spent the majority of her working life as the Office Manager at Producer’s Compress in McKinney.

Early in life, influenced by her mother, she developed an interest in genealogy. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and other genealogical societies. Using her own research and that of her mother, she prepared and revised a genealogy notebook for her siblings and her family.

Mary’s great passion was for traveling. She enjoyed planning and taking trips with the family and was instrumental in developing a love of historical places and museums and national and state parks in her children. During her travels, she visited all 50 states in the United States, England, and the Galapagos Islands

In addition to traveling, Mary enjoyed reading Old West fiction and murder mysteries. Later in life, she enjoyed needlepoint and quilting projects. And as a life-long member of the Methodist Church, she spent many of her later years studying the Bible.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Joe McMahan, who died on July 4, 2020.

Mary is survived by her three children: daughter Louise Biggs and her husband Alton Biggs; daughter Anita Mitchell and her husband Steven Mitchell; and son Travis McMahan and his wife Kelli McMahan.

Mary is also survived by her four grandchildren: Laura Finley; Alan Mitchell; Kyle McMahan and his partner David Foster; and Ross McMahan and his wife Morgan McMahan.

She is also survived by her much-loved great-grandson Nicholas Finley.
