Maria Rodriguez Singler

Maria R. Singler passed away from a sudden stroke on August 25, 2023. She was loved by all, and her devotion to Jesus carried her to Heaven. She was born in San Benito, Texas, and was married 61 years to her loving husband, Cletus. Maria met Clete on a blind date, while he was stationed at (now the International Airport) Harlingen Air Force Base as an Aviation cadet.

Maria and Clete were engaged on Christmas day 1961 and married on March 25, 1962, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Maria had one son, John Stephen Singler, and one daughter, Suzie (Singler) Careless.

Maria was a wonderful mother and while often home alone, maintained their home when Clete was flying for the Air Force. She retired from the Fort Worth Independent School District in 2002 after 28 years of service in various schools.

Maria enjoyed a quiet home life and was an accomplished cook and baker. She loved to bake cakes for any and all occasions. Her most recent cake was for her 50th Wedding Anniversary, a four-tiered beauty air brushed in gold. She also accompanied Clete for numerous adventures on the road in their RV, visiting all corners of the United States and Canada.

She was preceded in death by her Mother, Lupita and father, Guadalupe; her sister, Julia; and her brother, Tomas.

Maria leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Clete; son, John Stephen; daughter, Suzie; and sisters, Olga, Estela, and Frances.

The family is requesting a Donation to St Jude's Research Hospital in Memphis Tennessee, in lieu of flowers.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Friday, September 8, 2023, 6150 Pershing Ave, Fort Worth Texas 76107. Rosary prayer starts at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. A casual lunch reception will be held at the Singler Family residence immediately after. Please join us for a Celebration of her Life.
