Alice Louise (Ross) Sloan, 79, of White Settlement, Texas, known by her family and friends as Aunt Mother or Weezie, passed away peacefully in her home, Monday morning, January 2, 2023, lovingly surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, mother of three girls, Aunt Mother to three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and a caring sister.
Louise was born July 8, 1943, in Texarkana, Arkansas. She graduated from Brewer High School in 1961 and furthered her education at Rutherford School of Business. She married the love of her life, Grover Sloan, April 28, 1962. She worked at Cox’s Department Store in Fort Worth as a bookkeeper for over ten years, and worked for Winn Dixie as a Meatcutter for over 25 years. Her last years of working she was a respected Bartender at many establishments including VFW Post 8235 and Post 10429, as well as Nancy’s Outpost of Fort Worth, which is where she earned her nickname, Weezie. She was also a past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 297, as well as a member and volunteer there for over 40 years. She is a lifetime member of the VFW 8235 and American Legion Post 297 Rider supporter.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Grover Glen Sloan; daughters, Glenda Louise Sloan-Patterson, and Rita Kaye Sloan-Smith; parents, Edward and Pauline Beauchamp; sister, Hope Ross Nay; brothers-in-law, Robert Nay, and Michael Salters; and grandson-in-law, Terry Cunningham,
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Dorene Sloan; grandchildren, Tara Louise Lindeman and husband, Jeremy, Zachary Glen Sloan and wife, Wendy, and Cecilia Rose Pauline Smith-Harris; great-grandchildren, Joseph Philip Sloan, James Gage Harris, and Luka Blaize Lindeman; son-in-law, Timothy Allen Smith; siblings, Perry Ross and wife, Julie, May Massey and husband, Coy, Irene Salters, and Joe Beauchamp.
Celebration of Life: 1 p.m. to ???, Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the American Legion Post 297, 8201 Old Benbrook Road, Benbrook, Texas 76126. All family and friends are invited and there will be a luncheon served after her service.
