Lorene Cheatham

BENBROOK -- Lorene Margie Cheatham, 100, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 15, 2014.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth.
Lorene was born to Harland and Myrtle Casteel on Dec. 8, 1914, in Sherman. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1931. Lorene met and married J. Ross Cheatham in 1940. They moved in 1941 to Fort Worth, where they reared two sons, Bob and Larry.
Lorene was a loving mother, Scout leader, PTA officer and adopted mother to many of her sons' friends in her neighborhood.
She was an avid gardener with a beautiful yard and house full of African violets. She loved her plants and tended them just as she did her children. Lorene worked for many years in the business office of Cox's Department Store until her retirement in 1974.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, J. Ross Cheatham.
Survivors: Sons, Robert Harland Cheatham and wife, Melinda, of Gainesville and Larry Ross Cheatham and wife, Sharon, of Benbrook; grandchildren, Chad Cheatham of Lago Vista, Ashley Cheatham (Cory Quain) of Lago Vista, Jason Cheatham (Lindsey) of Haslet, Cory Corbin (Clint) of Argyle, Chaney Cheatham of Plano and Nina Franciocci (Emmanuel) of Houston; and eight great-grandchildren.
