Laverne Weathers

July 9, 1948 — November 14, 2019

Laverne Weathers, 71, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, of North Richland Hills, passed away on November 14, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside Services: 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019, at Benbrook Cemetery, 825 Mercedes Street, Benbrook Texas 76126. If the weather is disagreeable, services will be held in the chapel at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook.

Laverne was born on July 9, 1948 in Fort Worth to Frank and Madeline James. She grew up in Benbrook alongside her four brothers and one sister. Together through fun and mischief they made a lifetime of memories. At a young age, Laverne quickly grew to become the family chef and developed a passion for food and cooking that lasted a lifetime. Laverne graduated from North Side High School in 1966. In 1972, she fell in love and married her husband of almost 47 years, Rusty. They had three children together, Clayton, Stacy, and Jennifer. She was a devoted mother who was there for her children whenever needed. In addition to her own, Laverne spent many of her years providing care and love to the children of other families. Through home daycare she extended her family and home and was affectionately called “Bern”. After retiring from childcare she turned to an enjoyable career in real estate. In addition to her varied occupations, she had many hobbies including cooking, cake decorating, sewing and crocheting in which she provided special blankets to all of her beloved grandchildren for which they will always be able to curl up and remember their fond memories with her. Laverne will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.

Waiting eagerly for her arrival into Heaven are Laverne’s parents, Frank and Madeline James, and infant daughter, Jennifer Weathers.
