Kirk Edward Henry was welcomed by the angels into Heaven on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, with the family he fiercely loved by his side. Kirk was born on February 5, 1970, in Lakewood, New Jersey. His 54 years on earth were cherished, precious, and overflowing with love, laughter, and joy.
Kirk was diagnosed with glioblastoma 4 (GBM) on December 28, 2019. A true warrior in everything he did, Kirk faced his fight against GBM with immense strength and dignity. He developed relationships with other glioblastoma patients, sharing information and striving to make their lives better. Along with many families and friends, two very special churches prayed tirelessly for Kirk; Chapel Creek Fellowship and Bays Chapel Church. His family is grateful to his very special doctor, Dr. Emmanuel Mantilla, who served as his neuro-oncologist with empathy and vigor for four and a half years, as well as Community Healthcare of Texas, who made a significant impact on the last few days of his life.
Kirk worked hard but loved even harder. He lived big and without fear. His achievements were many, but his crowning achievement was the family that he shared with his wife, Janna, and the devotion he gave to all of them. The family adventures he led and the incredible memories he created will last a lifetime for all.
In 1994, Kirk transferred to Houston with Honeywell DMC. His telecommunications career spanned 30 years, six states, and he left this world with many special relationships from his career.
Kirk filled his life the same way that he filled his heart, with extraordinary people. From Fort Worth to the coast of New Jersey, the lives Kirk both touched and treasured remain many. In Kirk’s presence, you would experience his kindness, gentle nature, quirkiness, ability to fix anything, love of history, never-ending fight for the underdog, and rarely would you walk away without a smile or laugh.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Janna Welch Henry; and their children, Emily (Joshua) Lasater, Kyle (Rylee) Henry, and Brycen (Bailey) Henry; five grandchildren, Kallen Henry, Nelwyn Lasater, Hadlee Lasater, Evelynn Lasater, and Paityn Henry; mother, Genese (Ed) Burlett; sister, Karyn Henry; mother-in-law, Sharon Welch; sisters-in-law, Tammy Welch and Debbie Ellis; brother-in-law, Wayman Welch; and nieces, Samantha Valvo and Alexi Klimek.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Henry; his sister, Kim Henry; and father-in- law, Douglas Welch.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Kirk requested donations be made to the church that was dear to him, Chapel Creek Fellowship, 8200 Tumbleweed Trail, White Settlement, Texas 76108. Memorial Donation - Chapel Creek Fellowship Church.
