FORT WORTH -- Josephine Huett May 17, 1926 - December 10, 2016
Jo Huett, 90, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Restoration Family Church, 10201 Jerry Dunn Pkwy., Benbrook. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook.
Josephine, known to most as Jo, to family and friends as Mama Jo, met the angels in the sky as they escorted her to the streets of Heaven. Josephine was born to Rev. Allen Carr and wife Pauline, on May 17, 1926, in Frankston, TX. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1945 and married Bernard O'Neil Huett on July 7, 1945. She worked for the Abilene ISD for Region XIV retiring, after 20 years of service in 1986. Bernard and Josephine lived in Abilene, TX for 55 years and moved to Benbrook, TX in 2001.
She had four children, Don Randell, who died at the age of 2 days old, Elta Kay Russell and her husband, Jim, of Hurst, TX., Rev. Lonnie Huett and wife, Debbie, of Benbrook, TX, and Rev. John R Huett, and wife Tina, of Forney, TX. She had seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son; and her siblings, Barney Jo Carr, Dewey Carr, Ruth Harrison, and J.D. Carr.
Jo could do just about anything she set her mind to. She was a seamstress and made baby clothes to drapes, wedding dresses to furniture covers. She could paint, make ceramics, helped anybody paint a house, tile a floor, hang ceiling tiles, texture a wall, and then help clean up. She water skied, snow skied (sorta), loved the water, and would do anything necessary to be with her family. She was a preacher's kid, and always loved the Lord and His church. She played the organ and piano, and sang alto in a quartet for many years. She was an inspiration to all……her drive and fortitude lasted till the very end. She was the greatest mom ever, a wonderful wife, an amazing grandmother and great grandmother, and an example to all. Oh, she had her faults, but I can't remember many of those right now.
She leaves a legacy, and we will miss her.
