John Calvin Whitmire, 75, passed away quietly on September 1, 2026, in the presence of his son Jason. John was born on February 3, 1951, in Weatherford, TX to Vernon and Johnny Whitmire.
John graduated from Aledo High School in 1969 with many football and basketball awards. He leaves behind children Amanda and Matt Prudden, Candice and Max Ayala, Jason and Lauren Whitmire, Carly and Mike Phillips, Chris and Amanda Whitmire, a brother Ken and Vikki Whitmire. One nephew Kevin and Tisha Whitmire plus many grandchildren. John married his high school sweetheart, Kathy McClendon, in 2020.
A service to honor John's life will be held at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Winscott Road Chapel. Visitation is Wednesday, September 9, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
John's life was marked more by his actions than by his words. His presence will be deeply missed.
