Obituary

John “Jack” Fredrick Cornwell Sr., of Fort Worth, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 83.

He was born on September 21, 1942, in North Buena Vista, Iowa, to Everett and Ida Mae Cornwell. After graduating from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force. He spent four years stationed at Webb Air Force Base, where he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Bennie Kay Stice. They were married on June 20, 1964, and shared 61 wonderful years together. Following his military service, Jack became an electrician and continued in that trade until his retirement.

Jack found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, reading cowboy novels, and taking drives. He was known for his dry sense of humor, as well as his compassion, empathy for others, and generous spirit.

Jack was preceded in death by daughter Christy Kim Cornwell Bernard.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Bennie Kay Cornwell; his daughter, Julie Ione Cornwell; his sons, John Fredrick Cornwell Jr. and Kenneth (Kenny) Michael Cornwell (Courtney); and his granddaughter. He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren—Jessica, Jennifer, Teddie Kay, Brooke, Brandon, Cody, Jack, Jake, Christian, Cohen, Dylan, and Braden—and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Emma, Macy, Addie, Maddie, Brenly, Tallulah, Alaina, Damien, Layna, Journey, Stevie, and Phoenix, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jack will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.
