Janet Walls Powers Murphy, 84, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2015.
Memorial visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook. Interment: Private.

Janet was born July 21, 1930, in East Millinocket, Maine, daughter of Nestor A. Powers and Inez Isabell Walls Powers, and sister of Carolyn Powers Driensky. She married Franklin Byron Murphy of Milford, Maine, on Dec. 7, 1957.
Janet was a graduate of Lee Academy of Lee, Maine, Westbrook College of Portland, Maine, and the University of Maine of Orono, Maine. She taught school in Maine; Macon, Ga.; San Antonio; and Oklahoma City, Okla., as well as the Department of Defense for the Air Force schools in England, as she accompanied her husband, an Air Force senior master sergeant on many tours of duty. Her last teaching position was at All Saints Episcopal School in Fort Worth where she and her husband retired.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Franklin Byron Murphy, in 2012; and her sister, Carolyn Powers Driensky.
Survivors: Sons, Christopher Byron Murphy and wife, Barbara, and Nestor Paul Murphy and wife, Penny; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
