James “Jim” Edd Mercer, 71, of Benbrook, Texas, peacefully passed away on February 4, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Jim was born in San Antonio, Texas to James Matson Mercer and Marguerite Stodghill Mercer on September 27, 1950. He went to Edison High School where he graduated in 1969. He married Deborah “Debbie” Mercer on September 1, 2006 in Fort Worth, Jim worked as an Engineer where he was involved in the construction and operation of several nuclear power plants. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he actively served for over 11 years. Jim was a devoted and loving father, husband and friend who had enormous passion and love for his faith, family and country. He enjoyed anything involving sports and was an avid outdoorsman.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, James Matson Mercer and Marguerite Stodghill Mercer; and sisters, Katherine “Jan” Wilson and Susan Griffith.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Deborah “Debbie” Mercer; children, James Stephen Mercer, Jimmy Smith, Stacy Gevedon and husband, Jeremy and Shannon Mercer; grandchildren, Austin “AJ” and wife, Taylor, Juliet “Jules”, Ashley, Jeremy Thomas “JT”, Joey, Michael, Caitlyn and Jason; great-grandchildren, Keagan, Laikan and Remi; siblings, Judy Loveless, Martha Lenz, Mark Mercer and Lisa Canellis; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: 1-2:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022 at Trinity Hills Baptist Church, 6970 FM 2871, Benbrook, Texas 76126. Funeral services: 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 11th, at Trinity Hills Baptist Church, following his visitation. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park, 500 Kennedale-Sublett Road, Kennedale, Texas 76060, following his church service.
