James Williams

James David Williams, 63, of Springtown, passed away March 2, 2017.
Graveside services: 1 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017 in Rose Hill Cemetery, Merkel, Texas. Visitation: 2 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook.
James was born January 14, 1954, in Stephenville. He was a retired Tarrant County sheriff and was highly regarded as one of the best. His friends and fellow officers knew him best as "Bear." He stood 6'4" and was every bit a bear--a "Pooh" bear. His family knew him as James David, son, big brother, brother-in-law, Uncle James, stepdad and best friend. He graduated Lake Worth High School (Texas) in 1972. He played basketball, and his fellow players named him "Klondike." He loved to watch sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don H. Williams, and wife, Glynda Williams.
SURVIVORS: His is survived by his mother, Jewel Williams; sisters, Patti Sparks and husband, Richard, Jo Deatherage, Sandra "Sandy" Williams; stepsons, Terry Bartlett, Keith Bartlett and Steven Bartlett; many nieces and nephews, and furbabies, Shibe and Flora.
