James Darron Killion, “Jimmy” May 15, 1968 – October 6, 2026
Obituary written by his son, Matthew James Killion
James “Jimmy” Darron Killion, age 58, of Springtown, Texas, passed away in the early morning of October 6, 2026. The Heart Behind It All & The Man We Knew and Loved The story of Jimmy's life, his friendships, his big heart, his one-of-a-kind personality, and the memories that will live on in all of us.
Jimmy was born on May 15, 1968, in Cleburne, Texas, to Robert and Margaret Killion. He grew up in Euless, Texas, and graduated from Trinity High School. He worked as a mechanic at Smurfit Westrock for over thirty years, where he formed many lasting friendships with the people he worked alongside.
Although Jimmy was a Texan through and through, he also held a special place in his heart for his mother’s hometown Neuerburg, Germany, the beautiful village nestled in the Eifel hills where his mother, Margaret, grew up. He had the opportunity to visit her hometown with her and his family on three occasions, creating memories and sharing a part of her life that meant so much to her. It was a special connection to his family's history and a place that would always hold meaning for him.
Jimmy was an extremely gifted artist with a remarkable imagination and a natural ability to bring the things he pictured in his mind to life, whether through his artwork or the things he created with his hands. He had a way of looking at something and seeing what it could become. He was also just as talented with his hands as he was with his imagination, with a deep understanding of how things worked. He could take almost anything apart, figure out what was wrong, and put it back together again. If something needed fixing, creating, or figuring out, Jimmy had a way of doing things that was entirely his own!
But what truly made Jimmy special went far beyond his talents, his taste in Elvis Presley music, or his unique obsession with the color Ford blue and bright orange. No deep down, he was truly the most loving and caring man with the biggest heart, one that reached further than many people may have ever realized. He cared deeply about the people in his life, whether they were family, friends, coworkers, or someone who simply needed a little kindness. He cared about his friendships and formed connections that lasted well beyond the time spent working or sharing everyday moments together. He had a way of making people feel accepted and understood, often without needing to say very much at all. His care for others was simply part of who he was.
Jimmy had such a unique way of going through life and appreciating the outdoors. In his days he loved being outside and spent a lot of time sightseeing, hiking, exploring, and finding the beauty in things many people would simply overlook. Just like his son, he loved crystals, cool walking sticks, or even finding that perfect spot that would overlook a lake during sunset. He had a personality that was impossible to mistake for anyone else's. He had his own way of doing things, his own way of looking at the world, and all those little quirks that made him unmistakably HIM. There was nobody quite like James, and there never will be. He could make people laugh, leave them with a great story to tell, or turn an ordinary moment into a memory that would stay with them for years to come.
His love extended to animals just as naturally as it did to people. No matter how big or small, he had such a soft spot for them, and the loving care he showed them reflected the same caring heart he carried throughout his life. Whether he was spending time with family, sharing a laugh with a friend, lending a helping hand, or showing kindness to someone in need, Jimmy had a way of giving more of himself than people may have ever realized at the time.
To his family, Jimmy was a deeply beloved son, a forever caring father, and a brother who brought his own strength, humor, love, and personality into their lives. He was someone whose presence could never truly be replaced. The love he gave, the friendships he built, the warmth he shared, and the little things that made him who he was, have all become part of the memories he leaves behind.
There will be moments in the years ahead when someone says something that sounds just like Jimmy, when something happens that reminds us of one of his habits, or when an ordinary day brings back a memory we weren't expecting. In those moments, we will be reminded of just how unique he was and how deeply he touched our lives. Some people leave the impression that time cannot erase, and James was one of those people. His life will continue to be remembered not only in the big things he did, but in the countless little ways he made life different for the people fortunate enough to know him.
The Family He Leaves Behind Jimmy is survived by his beloved son, Matthew James Killion; his parents, Robert and Margaret Killion; his loving brother, Roger Killion, and Roger's wife, Kari & their two boys Ryker & Hardin, and Roger's other son Garrett Killion; and his sisters, Susan Killion and her husband, Michael and their two boys Bryce & Hayden, and Kathleen Killion and her two children Reese & Spencer
Jimmy will be remembered for his creativity, his remarkable ability to fix and create, his friendships, his humor, and most importantly the love he gave so freely and willingly. But above all else, he will be remembered for the big heart behind it all. While he could fix almost anything, it was the person he was, the love he carried, the memories he created, and the lives he touched that made him truly unforgettable.
We love you, James. We will miss you more than words can ever express, and we will carry you with each and every single one of us for as long as we live. We hope you are smiling down on us, watching over us, and keeping us close as we continue through life without you here beside us. May you rest peacefully in the hands of our Lord & Savior, knowing that you are loved, you are deeply missed, and you will NEVER be forgotten.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen
I’ll miss you, Dad.
