BENBROOK -- Homer Lee Cox Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.
Service: Requiem Mass at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at St. Peter's Orthodox Church, 7601 Bellaire Drive S., Fort Worth 76132. Interment: 2 p.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.

Homer was born Aug. 20, 1930, in Ewing, Mo., to Homer Lee Cox Sr. and Elizabeth Gnuse Cox. He served in the Korean War for the USAF and was a pilot for the F-86 and F-80, the first American fighter jets; he was also a flight test engineer for the B-58. Homer worked for over 30 years for the USAF at General Dynamics on the B-58, F-111, and F-16 programs. Later he worked at LTV and the Superconducting Super Collider.
He was a member of St. Peter's Orthodox Church and a volunteer at St. Peter's Classical School and at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens/Japanese Gardens for over 50 years.
Survivors: His wife of 62 years, Van; daughter, Martha of Dallas; son, Peter (Lee) of Benbrook; sister, Wilma Maples and her husband, Richard, of Canton, Mo.; sister, June Englehorn and her husband, Jim, of Denver, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.
