Homer Brogdon

FORT WORTH -- Homer Edward Brogdon, 78, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014.
Funeral service: 3 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church Lakeside, 8801 Jacksboro Hwy, Lakeside 76135. Burial: 9:15 a.m., Friday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the church prior to the funeral service.
Homer was born to the late Oscar and Myrtle Brogdon on Sept. 28, 1935 in Elmore City, Okla. He was the sixth child of nine children. Homer served our country in the U.S. Air Force and when he returned from the service, married Lois Mae Lovett on July 26, 1958.
Homer drove a truck for a living and loved to gather family and friends around his dining room table to play cards or board games to get us all laughing and having fun. He was an outgoing, friendly person who showed his love by teasing his family and friends.
He was a Christian man and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeside where he had served as trustee and usher. For several years he enjoyed driving a church bus to bring children to learn about Jesus.
Homer was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
Homer is survived by his wife, Lois Brogdon; two daughters, Kim Smith and her husband, Rev. Richard Smith of Waxahachie, and Vickie Elliott and her husband, Gary of Benbrook; two sons, Larry Brogdon and his wife, Rhonda of Granite Falls, N.C., and Joe Brogdon and his wife, Donna of Fort Smith, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Brogdon of Arizona, and Glen Brogdon and his wife, Barbara of Fort Worth; and a host of nieces of nephews.
