Harlene Cornett

April 24, 1937 — October 2, 2016

BENBROOK -- Harlene Sorrells Barnes Cornett, 79, went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, surrounded by loving family and friends and Raul Gutierrez, her beloved minister and friend.
Memorial service: A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 15 at Western Hills United Methodist Church, 2820 Laredo Drive, Fort Worth.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Western Hills United Methodist Church, 2820 Laredo Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76116.
Harlene was born on April 24, 1937, in Oklahoma, to Willis Jones (Pete) and Effie Phae Sorrells. She soon had two sisters Joan and Jane Sorrells. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1955. Harlene worked for the Federal Government starting at the Presidio in San Francisco, Calif., Clinton Sherman Air Force Base in Burns Flat, Okla. and finally at the Federal Building for GSA in Fort Worth.
Harlene married Herman Pritchard in 1954 and had a daughter Pamela Kay Pritchard in 1959. She married Charles (Chuck) Bruce Barnes in 1966 and had a son Craig Brent Barnes in 1969. After the passing of Chuck Barnes after 34 years of marriage she found love again and married longtime family friend Larry Mac Cornett in 2001.
Harlene was a resident of Fort Worth since 1967. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter Laureate Beta Zeta for 46 years. The sisters in this group were her among her closest friends. She was a member of Western Hills United Methodist Church where she was very active in Choir, Hand Bells and several committees. She was also a member of PEO Sisterhood Chapter G and Legacy - EX Libris Book Club. She loved to travel, play bridge, spend time with family & friends, paint and shop!
Harlene was a friend to all that knew her and never met a stranger.
She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Pete and Effie Sorrells, her husband, Charles (Chuck) Barnes on April 27, 2000 and husband, Larry Cornett on Aug. 12, 2016.
Survivors: Sisters, Jane Sorrells and Joan Sorrells Cameron. Children, Pamela and Patton Dingler, Craig and Nicole Barnes, Laura and Michael Ruth, Alex and Teresa Cornett, Alicia and Bryan Sinner, Grandchildren, Deyton Dingler, Caden Barnes, Caleb Barnes, Charis Barnes, Jennifer and Paul McEwin, Callan Cornett, Nick and Kim Cornett, James and Sarah Humphries, Kara and Tripp Cashion, Brandon Sinner, Colleen and Jordan Matthews, Alecia and Vince Morrow, Michael Alexander Ruth, Eric Sinner, David Ruth, Bennett Sinner, Sarah-Grace Ruth, and many great granchildren, neices and nephews and many close friends.
