Gertrude Elkouri

BENBROOK -- Gertrude Elkouri, 92, devoted wife and mother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2015, surrounded by her husband and son at her home in Benbrook.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 3401 Bellaire Drive South, Fort Worth.

Gertrude Lorene Elkouri was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Eudora, Mo., daughter of the late Rev. Joseph and Nellie Leith. During World War II, she met Henry Elkouri in Anadarko, Okla., while she was working for Western Union. They later married and began their life's journey on July 7, 1944.
The Elkouri family wishes to thank Christie and the wonderful people at Hospice Plus for all the help they provided, and to her devoted caretaker, Bonita Stutts.
In addition to her parents, Gertrude was preceded in death by two sons, Doran Elkouri in 2001 and David Elkouri in 2015; sister, Louise Hook; and brothers, Marshall Leith, George Leith, Lester Leith and Thomas Leith.
Survivors: Husband of 70 years, Henry Elkouri of Benbrook; son, Brian Elkouri of Austin; and brother, Joe Leith, of Eudora, Mo.
