Gene Buckner

BENBROOK -- Gene C. Buckner, 85, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at his home in Benbrook after a long illness.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Benbrook, 1015 McKinley St., Benbrook. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth. Visitation: Family visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Rd., Benbrook.
Gene was born in Glenfawn, in 1931, married Susan Buckner in 1956 and moved to Benbrook that same year. Gene graduated from Laneville High School, attended Stephen F. Austin College for two years, and retired from Lockheed Martin in 1993 after a 43 year career. He also founded Benbrook Air Conditioning and Heating in 1975.
Gene was a Mason for over 60 years, member of Ridglea Masonic Lodge #1341, a past Master, and chief floor school instructor for many years.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Clara Buckner of Glenfawn; and sisters Jeanette, Louise Hays, and Bette James.
Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Susan Buckner; children, David Buckner, Leah and husband, Rick Lancaster; grandchildren, Elizabeth and John Buckner, William Lancaster, and Raechel and husband, Joshua Hutcheson; brother, Robert G. Buckner; sisters, Ruby Arnold, Mary and husband, Richard Yancy, Martha and husband, Maxcey Williams, and Janis and husband, Eddie Seale; a cousin who was like a brother to him, R. Doyle Buckner; numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and many, many friends.
