Gary Douglas Knight

Gary Douglas Knight, 66, of Willow Park, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday August 28, 2026.

Gary was born in Fort Wayne, IN on September 1, 1959. After spending his childhood in Omaha, NE and St. Louis, MO, Gary spent the majority of his career with Walmart, planting new store locations across TX, NM, MO, and CO. Gary led multiple Walmart store locations as an Assistant and General Manager. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, supporting his football teams, and golfing; especially in the company of those he loved. Gary took great interest in his sons’ sports – taking the time to coach them both on and off the field. He would impart lessons of perseverance, loyalty, and goodness to help them take on life’s challenges.

Gary’s greatest legacy is the positive impact he left on those he loved. Friends, family, and neighbors will remember his witty sense of humor, gentle demeanor, warm smile, and his servant’s heart. Gary was an especially thoughtful gift-giver. He enjoyed blessing his loved ones with handmade woodwork during the holiday season. Whether hand-crafted or intentionally chosen, his gifts conveyed a depth of love and care that transcend any material object.

Gary is preceded by his parents, Jerry and Sue Knight. He is survived by his siblings, Steve Knight (Robin), Colleen Harmon (Don), Rob Knight (Julie), and Rick Knight (Kay); the Mother of his sons, Diana Gardner (Glenn Peitzmeier); his sons, Derek Knight (Carley) and Gavin Gardner-Knight; his grandson, Nolan Knight and granddaughter, expected in November.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gary’s life on Saturday October 3rd, 2026, at 5:00PM in Fort Worth, TX with a reception to follow.
