Frankie Louise Sorenson

Frankie Louise Robinson Sorenson passed away on September 1, 2026 at her home with her son Tony and wife Sheila, having lived a full life of love and devotion. Frankie was a quintessential woman of West Texas of her generation-young to marry, young to become a mother, devoted to family and friends, and an always present rock within the stream with a ready smile, a twinkle in her eye, forever encouraging and forever reminding family and friends how truly special and loved they are and how they/we can do it, can each be their best.

Frankie was born at her maternal grandparents home in Bosque County, Tx to J. D. Robinson and Alice Gertrude New Robinson. After reaching school age, the family moved to Haskell County where Frankie grew up on the family farm and graduated from high school. A few months after graduation, Frankie married the love of her life, Bill Sorenson, on September 30, 1951 in Haskell. Bill had been on leave from Army Basic Training at the time of their wedding and the young couple then moved to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where the first of two sons, Rickie Glenn, was born. Bill and Frankie then returned home to West Texas after Bill’s time in the military and Bill immediately started working in the oil field. Over the next 30 years, Bill and Frankie moved where Bill’s job took them, from Anson, where their second son, Tony Lynn, was born, Rule, Midland, Colorado City, Alice , Lafayette, LA, Abilene, and Odessa. And throughout, with each change of location Frankie and Bill, while leaning heavily on Frankie’s magical touch as a homemaker, established a new home, enjoying new friends and a new sense of community. Bill retired from the oilfield industry in 1985 and the couple stayed in Odessa with Bill working in financial planning and insurance.

In 2015, Bill and Frankie moved to Fort Worth to be near their sons and their families, living in a retirement village for almost ten years. After 71 years of marriage, Bill died in late 2022. Frankie continued to live at the retirement center for 2 1/2 more years before moving in with Tony and Sheila.

Frankie was a Christian woman, a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and great-grandmother, dedicated to her husband Bill, and her sons and their families.

Frankie was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents, JD and Gertie Robinson, her parents-in-law, Rody and Oleta Sorenson, and her sister-in-law and brother-in -law, Doris and JL Carpenter.

Frankie is survived by her two sons, Rick and wife, Karyn Sorenson, Tony and wife, Sheila, grandchildren, Sarah Pugliano and husband, Ryan, Grant Sorenson and wife, Keegan, Grace Wynne and husband David, great-grandchildren, Reagan Pugliano, Claire, Conrad, and Pierce Sorenson, and Kay Wynne, nephew, Ronnie Carpenter, niece Karen Lucy and husband Johnny and their families.
