Early Life:

Ery Timothy Adams was born in Dallas, Texas March 22, 1947. He was the second of three sons born to Joe and Gladys Adams. He grew up in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas, Texas which was a post WW11 neighborhood. Tim and his brothers – Joe and Paul – learned hard chores which included helping their mother plant gardens, hoeing, picking and tending chickens.

His family attended the local Catholic parish church where Tim became an altar boy. This strong Christian up-bringing shaped Tim’s life and values. He attended Catholic schools until high school when he transferred to W.W. Samuel High School. He graduated in 1965. He was proud of being a 4th generation Texas.

Education, Service, and Career:

Having no immediate plans after high school, Tim accompanied a friend who was enrolling in Henderson County Junior College. While there, Tim met and was convinced by the Dean that he needed to enroll too – which he later did. After graduating with an associate’s degree, Tim soon followed his brother Joe by joining the service in 1968. All three of the brothers entered the Army. Since Joe was already deployed to Viet Nam, Tim was one of a few sent elsewhere. He went to Okinawa working as a crypt analyst. He remained there until 1971. He moved back to Texas anxious to finish his degree. He enrolled at UTA, completing a Political Science degree in 1973.

Tim began a long professional career in business which included sales and manufacturing. He traveled to Mexico and later to Wisconsin, Washington/Oregon and Japan for the Menasha Corporation. He finished his career with Sperry Van Ness Commercial Real Estate in property management.

Hobbies and Passion:

Anyone who knew Tim could tell you his sport was fishing. Most of all he loved to go fishing with his brothers whether on Joe’s pontoon boat, the gulf, Lake Texoma, or Paul’s stock ponds. He regarded it a catastrophe if anyone had not been fishing and quickly tried to introduce them to it. Of course all grandchildren got lessons in fishing. The volume of lures he collected is amazing.

History and reading were some of Tim’s other interests. He read a wide variety of subjects as well as ancestry research. He loved to travel whether abroad or road trips. One of his favorites was U.S Route 66 on his 66th birthday. He loved music- all genres: country western, soft rock n roll, religious and classical. He enjoyed many years of singing in church choirs, Messiah sings, and 4th of July concerts at Arborlawn Methodist Church. Lastly, one cannot forget wine tastings with good friends and family as well as a good dirty martini.

Family:

Tim inherited a blended family when he married Debbie Barrett Adams. Tim was already the proud parent of four children: Jason, Jeremy, Kristin, and Bethany. He loved each of them with their unique talents, skills and gifts. Tim gained a stepdaughter Ashley, stepson Brett, daughter-in-law Crystal, son-in-law Mac, and daughter-in-law Nicole whom he loved as much as his own children.

He was the devoted husband to Debbie whom he met at Broadway Baptist Church in a Sunday School class. He considered her his “dessert” in life. They recently celebrated seventeen years together.

Eight grandchildren were so important to Tim. He tried to keep up with all their activities, talents, sports, adventures, and travels. They include: Nathan, Alia, Gideon, Olive, Clara, Joel, Skylar, and Parker. Besides teaching fishing, he tried to engage with all of them.

Tim always tried to create opportunities to get family together whether it was birthdays, graduations, traveling for holidays, smoking briskets, fish fries, sports events, or trips. Relationships were very important to him and he worked hard to maintain them all.

Faith:

Tim was a strong Christian. His faith in God brought him through both hard and wonderful experiences in his life. He demonstrated his faith by working with the homeless in the Room in the Inn organization. He appreciated their struggles and crisis in life. He also mentored fourth graders in the Academy 4 program.

Tim entered the presence of our Heavenly Father August 22, 2026.

His grandparents, parents, brother Paul Adams and sister-in-law Christine Adams preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife- Debbie Adams, brother- Joe Adams (Peggy), son- Jason Adams (Crystal), son- Jeremy Adams, daughter- Kristin Edwards (Mac), daughter-Bethany Adams, stepdaughter – Ashley Barrett, stepson- Brett Barrett (Nicole).

Grandchildren include: Nathan Adams, Alia Adams, Gideon Edwards, Olive Edwards, Clara Adams, Joel Barrett, Skylar Barrett, Parker Barrett.

Also survived by many extended family and friends.
