Edwin Carroll

April 15, 1932 — December 6, 2018

Edwin G. Carroll, 86, of Fort Worth, passed away December 6, 2018, after a short illness.

Funeral services were held on December 13, 2018 and he is buried in Decatur, Texas.

Ed enlisted in the Air Force in 1949 and was stationed at Carswell AFB where he met his wife-to-be at a USO-type event at First Baptist Church in Fort Worth. They were married in December 1952. Ed was stationed in Puerto Rico, Louisiana, Newfoundland and finished up his 21 years at Castle AFB in Merced, California. He went to school on the GI bill. Ed became a Millwright and spent 10 years in that profession. He finished up his career working for local agricultural organizations in Central California. He loved to tinker in his shop and help others with their farm equipment and cars. Ed and his wife spent several years traveling around the U.S. helping to build churches during his retirement. He and his wife moved back to Fort Worth in 2007 where he took care of his wife, Gailya, until her death in 2011.

Survivors: Ed is survived by son, Stephen (Julie) Carroll, of Modesto, California; daughter, Lory (Rob) Leacock of Lautoka, Fiji; and daughter, Gay (Ray) Carroll-Haring of Sacramento, California; grandchildren, Susan (Worchihan) Zingkhai of Bangkok, Thailand and Greg (Cailin) Leacock of Cape Town, South Africa; great-grandson, Jude Leacock of Cape Town, South Africa; and second wife, Gloria O’Toole of Fort Worth.
