Edward “Ed” Kent Carter, a resident of Fort Worth, TX, died peacefully on May 29, 2026, after a brief battle with lung cancer. Ed was born April 17, 1948, in Cincinnati, OH, and grew up in Grand Rapids, MI. He joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served as a distinguished chief technician for the nuclear reactor of a Polaris submarine during the Vietnam War. Ed went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and a Master’s degree in industrial arts. Ed met his wife Amy in college, and they raised their three daughters in Fresno, CA. He taught high school for many years in Fresno Unified and later taught special education in Crowley, TX. Ed was a remarkable Sunday school teacher who faithfully taught the bible and served his church family at Normandale Baptist Church. His kindness and humor will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his daughters, Sarah Carter, Rachel Escobar, and Hannah Ramirez; sons-in-law Juan Escobar and Jose Ramirez; grandchildren Benjamin and Gabriel Carter, Peyton Escobar, Phoenix and Stella Casio, and Mateo Ramirez; sisters Mary Little, Becky Ahlberg, Carol Gingrich, Wendy Sandy, and Peggy Brown, as well as numerous beloved extended family members. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Mary Carter, wife Amy Carter, and grandson Carter Escobar.
Ed’s service will be held at Normandale Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:30 am.
