Douglas Wayne Bass

Douglas Wayne Bass, 70, passed away unexpectedly July 27, 2024. He was born May 29, 1954, in Grapevine, Texas. He attended Grapevine High School and immediately went to work at B&D Mills of Grapevine after graduation. 

Doug will be remembered as a man of few words with a heart of gold. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting, and working in the yard. Doug was married to the love of his life and his best friend, Marie Bass, for 37 years before her passing.

He loved almost everything Texan from fried catfish to homemade barbeque, and western movies to the Dallas Cowboys. Doug enjoyed helping his son with home projects and working on cars and motorcycles.

Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bass; mother, Lavada Buckner; father, Elvin Buckner; and sister, Sherri Cardona.

Survivors include his son, John Bass and wife, Meredith; granddaughters, Jocelyn and Jacalyn Bass; great-granddaughter, Alani Alfaro; sister, Carol Brumbalow; stepdaughter, Brenda Passarelli and husband, Tom; and their three sons, Steven, Ellis and wife, Tonya, and Aaron Howard; many nieces and nephews; extended family; and many loving friends.

Funeral service: 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at The Lonesome Dove Baptist Church, 2380 Lonesome Dove Road, Southlake, Texas 76092. The burial will be private at Lonesome Dove Cemetery.
