Doug was born in Miami, Okla. on October 27, 1945 and was the oldest child of John Edward Baskette and Catherine Etta Campbell. Doug’s early life was one of a military brat moving from military post to military post and he liked to brag about his high school life in France.
In 1965 Doug joined the Air Force and had an illustrious career in the Office of Special Investigations, retiring as a Master Sergeant in September of 1985. He had a successful civilian career in Security and was the Regional VP of Pinkerton Investigations before retiring.
Doug was well respected as a Mason and Shriner leader, served on the board of Wish with Wings, and was well known in the Benbrook community as a fast pitch softball coach for his daughter, Rochelle's softball teams and for his son, Tony's baseball and football teams.
People describe Doug as honest and caring. He had a huge and loving heart and would go the extra mile for people. Known as a straight shooter you always knew where you stood with him. His friendships were long and deep as was his sweet tooth.
Doug is preceded in death by his mother and father, John and Catherine, and his children, Derek "Drake", Nikki and Rikki.
Survivors: Doug is survived by his wife, Connie Ann (Thomas) Baskette; his two children, Tony Baskette and Ranelle, and Rochelle Baskette and James; siblings, Janet Hunter, Debbie Baskette Edwards, Renee Kelly, Barry Baskette and Sue Hines. Doug was well known as a loving father figure and bonus dad to his step-children and their spouses, Rachel Latigo and Clint Hutchins, Alexis and Keith Brock, Lesha and Kevin Fite. His wicked sense of humor and love will be missed by his grandchildren, Payton and Colton Baskette, Maddison Morris, Alisha Cormier, Kaden, Kaitlyn and Khloe Acker, Allyson, Ellen and Keaton Brock, Cole, Ella and Grant Fite. And last, but not least, he is survived by his and Connie’s fur baby, Cuba Baskette.
